How do I join?

If you want to know more about joining Wardlaw's, the best thing to do is get in touch with us at info@wardlawsdragoones.co.uk that way we can arrange to meet you and give you the full Wardlaw's experience.

Some other things you might want to know are:

What uniform/equipment will I need to get started?

Nothing straight away, as the regiment will source some kit that you can borrow for your first couple of musters. Your Wardlaw's doublet needs to be obtained through the regiment to ensure that it is to the correct specifications.

After the first year you will be expected to start piecing together your own kit but you will get plenty of advice on where to get it and what to get first.

Will I have to go to every event?

No. You can come to as many or as few musters as you wish but there are certain musters that will be highlighted in the regimental newsletter as ones that Wardlaw's are making a particular effort to attend.

How old do I have to be to join?

To join as an Individual Member in your own right, you have to be 18 years old. However, 16-18 year olds can join with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Below 16 years you have to join as family members with the parent or legal guardian. No one under the age of 16 years is allowed onto the actual battlefield.

How much does it cost?

2015 Membership fees are as follows (If you are joining for the first time you will need to add a £6 admin fee):

    • Family (two adults and their children) £58

    • Individual £38

    • Young Person (18-24) £30

Note: The SK does not charge you to attend each individual event. The membership fee covers you for as many events as you can come to.

However, if you aren't quite sure whether this is for you or not, you can apply for temporary membership that will last for one muster. It costs £17, but if you then decide that this is the hobby for you the price will be deducted from your full membership fee for the rest of that season (This reduction only applies if full membership is taken out in the same calendar year).
